Company genesis

The founding insight was simple, if unfashionable at the time that India's landfills and farms weren't liabilities to be managed but green fuel fields waiting to be tapped. That single idea shaped everything that followed: a business built on converting organic waste into Compressed Biogas, green diesel and bio-fertiliser, rather than treating waste as someone else's problem.

Where we stand today

Headquartered in Noida with a registered office in Mumbai, Nexgen Energia has grown from one CBG proposition into a diversified clean-fuel platform spanning CBG/Bio-CNG manufacturing and retail, green diesel, bio-coal, EV charging and lubricants. Our first CBG plant was commissioned in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh plants are now also running in Haridwar and Chennai.

What we build

One waste stream, five products:

• CBG / Bio-CNG (Core) Compressed Biogas manufactured from agricultural and municipal organic waste, sold through our own retail network as a direct substitute for imported natural gas.

• Green diesel (Fuel) A renewable diesel alternative produced alongside our CBG operations, aimed at the same import-substitution goal from a different fuel category.

• Bio-fertiliser (Byproduct) Every tonne of feedstock that goes into a digester comes out as clean fuel and organic manure closing the loop back to the farms the waste came from.

• Bio-coal (Adjacent) A solid biomass fuel line that extends our waste-to-energy model into industrial thermal applications beyond gas and liquid fuels.

• EV charging (Adjacent) Charging infrastructure that positions Nexgen across more than one clean-mobility pathway, not CBG alone.

• Lubricants (Adjacent) A supporting product line that rounds out our presence across the fuel and mobility value chain.

A footprint built plant by plant operating sites, an active pipeline, and the projects slated to come online next.

The current pipeline of ten 10–20 TPD projects carries an indicative capex of approximately ₹1,000 crore.

Vision & mission

We see ourselves as a catalyst for positive change driving the shift to a more sustainable future through biofuels, electric vehicles and responsible water management. That vision translates into a working mission: to be a driving force in India's shift to renewable energy, empowering entrepreneurs from farmers to first-time investors to set up CBG plants that cut fossil-fuel dependence while turning organic waste into a source of income.

What energy freedom means to us

For Nexgen, this year's Independence Day theme "Honouring Freedom, Inspiring the Future" reads almost literally. Every CBG plant we build is, in effect, a small act of import substitution biomethane made from Indian crop residue and cattle waste, standing in for gas that would otherwise be shipped in from abroad. That's not an abstract idea: fewer imports mean less currency leaving the country and a little more resilience built into the energy system.

Decades after independence, our view is that the next chapter of that freedom will be measured in energy self-reliance plant by plant, tonne of feedstock by tonne of feedstock. That's the piece of the story we're trying to write.
